Programming User Attributes

You can limit or expand user access by changing the user attributes or partition assignment. This post will explain the user attributes programming for version 4.2 and 3.2. See "Programming USER Partition Assignment" also.
To alter your user attributes for PowerSeries version 4.2:
  • Press * 5
  • Enter Master Code or Supervisor Code
  • Press 99
  • Enter the 2-digit user number (01-39, 41-95) to change the user attributes
  • Use toggle options below. The keypad will turn on the corresponding zone light or number to indicate which attributes are assigned to the user according to the list below:
Light or Number 1 on = User can enter User Code Programming section with this code
Light or Number 2 on = Duress Reporting Code is sent whenever this code is entered
Light or Number 3 on = User can manually bypass zones
Light or Number 4 on = User can access the Escort 5580 module remotely - Escort is a separate module that allows user to access the panel from any touch-tone phone anywhere in the world including a cellphone using any touch-tone phone as a keypad.
Light or Number 5      = For Future Use
Light or Number 6      = For Future Use
Light or Number 7 on  = The panel will squawk when the user arms/disarms
Light or Number 8 on  = One-time use code- Can disarm the system once per day and is reset at midnight
  • After assigning the attributes to user press # to exit
  • To change attributes for another user press 99
  • Press 2-digit user number
  • Change Attributes
  • Press # to save and exit
..........................................................................................
Changing attributes for Version 3.2
  • Press * 5
  • Enter Master Code or Supervisor Code
  • Press 9
  • Enter the 2-digit user number (01-32) to change the user attributes
  •  Use toggle options below. The keypad will turn on the corresponding zone light or number to indicate which attributes are assigned to the user according to the list below:
Light or Number 1 on = For Future Use
Light or Number 2 on = For Future Use
  • To change attributes for another user press 9
  • Press 2-digit user number
  • Change Attributes
  • Press # to save and exit
NOTE: version 3.2 :
The Duress Codes are automatic just program users in 33 and 34 in "User Code Programming" NOT in User Attributes.

Duress Code Programing and Use

In the event you are forced to disarm/arm the system like for instance you are placed under gunpoint by an assailant and you are forced to open the protected premises and disarm your system, you don't disarm with your normal user code you disarm the system with your duress code, your assailant will not know the difference. This code arms/disarms your system exactly as the regular user codes except it sends a silent duress signal for help to the monitoring station (if you configured your system for monitoring).
To program duress codes on PowerSeries panels software version 4.2
  • Program an additional user code on the system (01-39, 41-95) or see "User Code Programing" first. Let us say we just programed a new user code in user 30
  • We now have to change the attribute of that user code 30 to tell the system to send the duress signal whenever user 30 enters his/her code.
  • Enter *5 then enter Master or Supervisor Code. Press 99 then enter the 2-digit (30 in this case) user number to edit attribute(s) or see "Programming User Attributes" for more detail. Press 2 and the keypad will show the number 2 in the LCD display or it will turn on the zone 2 light to acknowledge that the duress reporting function is turned on
  • Press # to exit
  • Your format to configure user code 30 to transmit the duress signal, assuming the master code is 1234 would be: *5 1234 99 30 2 #
If your PowerSeries panel carries the OLDER version software, the duress codes can not be enabled in the user attributes section. Instead only two (2) user codes can be used for duress codes which are users 33 and 34 ONLY. Simple enough all you have to do is program a user code for user 33 or 34 in "User Code Programming" and the panel automatically assigns the duress codes to the two (2) user codes.

How to bypass a zone and why

Star (*) + (1) + (two digit zone number) + (#). Thats it you are done!

For example if you wanted to bypass zone 4 your format would be:
*104#

If you wanted to bypass zone 16 your format would be:
*116#

If your installer programed your system for user code bypassing your format to bypass zone 4 assuming your user code is 1234 your format would be:
*1123404#

Similarly if you wanted to bypass zone 16 if the system is programed to enter a valid user code to bypass zones. Assuming your user code is 1234, your format would be:
*1123416#

To remove the bypass from a zone it's the same steps for example if you wanted to remove the bypass from zone 4 your format would be
*104#

If more than one zones are needed to be bypassed for example zones 1, 8, 12 and 16 your format would be
*101081216
If the user code 1234 is required to bypass the same zones your format would be
*1123401081216#

*1 OR *1 USER CODE Enters you into the system's bypassing mode

The zone numbers are always two (2) digits long that means zones 1 - 9 will be entered as zones 01 - 09. Most keypads display all the zones that are bypassed by turning the respective zone numbers ON when bypassed and OFF when the bypass is removed from a particular zone

( # )The pound or number sign saves the selected bypassed zone or zones and exits the bypass mode

THE FIRST option "Bypassing without user code entry" is generally recommended for most HOME users

THE SECOND option "Bypassing with user code entry" is generally recommended for most BUSINESSES to prevent would be opportunists from bypassing areas of your premises unknowing to you, thus giving them the opportunity to break in the premises undetected.

NOTE: Every time the system is Armed and Disarmed the bypass on all bypassed zones will be removed. If zone bypassing is still required the zones will have to be re-bypassed before arming the system.

This feature may be used in the event a particular zone or device is unable to "close" on the system thus preventing you from arming the system. After bypassing the zone the rest of the system can be armed until a technician can fix the problem. Another use may be if you need to leave a window open, etc.

Changing User Codes Power Series DSC Alarm Systems

User Code Programming

When system is in disarmed state enter:
(*) + (5) (Master Code) + (2 digit user number 01-48) + (new user code) + (#)

Let us assume your master code is 8888 and you want to add your first user code as user 01. Enter:
* 5 8888 01 four digit user code #

To change a user code just enter the new code over the old code. To change the code for user 01 enter:
* 5 8888 01 new four digit user code #

To remove a user from the system enter * in place of the four digit user code. To remove user 01 enter:
* 8888 01 * #

(*) + (5) + (8888 / master code)  Enters the system into user code programming mode
(01) Selects the user numbers (01-48)
( * or four digit user code) deletes user code or programs new code
(#) Exits user code programming mode

If you wanted to program codes for users  01, 02, & 12 your format would be
* 8888 01 four digit code 02 four digit code 12 four digit code #

NOTE: By default the alarm system accepts four (4) digit user codes but the system can be programmed to accept six (6) digit user codes.

Each user can be assigned different functions such as:

One-time access code - User can arm the system once per day and the system resets code at
                                                midnight
Allow or Block user(s) from bypassing zone(s)

User Partition Programming - Restrict or Allow user(s) access on multiple keypads programmed for
                                                          partitioning
Change other user codes

Access the alarm system remotely from any touch-tone phone

Duress Code - Arms / Disarms system as usual but sends a "duress" signal to the monitoring station (if used). If you are forced under gunpoint, for example to open and disarm your business or home the duress code is what you will use to disarm and safely signal for help.
